The natural
surroundings of Almerimar:
In an environment of incomparable wild beauty, in one of the most
untouched areas of Almería, there is an oasis of land and
water that is bursting with life.
Almerimar is set in a privileged landscape, comprising an extensive
strip of land sprinkled with small lagoons and rich and abundant
flora, fauna and scenery.
- The Almerimar lake forms part of the Almerimar “Breezes
Promotion” and comprises a very important natural refuge
for the conservation of aquatic birds.
Its two central islands, that harbour each of the interior freshwater
lakes, form an impressive scenic ensemble.
- The Punta Entinas National Park is a true natural treasure, boasting
a very special and exclusive beauty.
It is made up of three very different landscapes: beach, salt plains
and lagoon. It stands out for its special beauty and the variety
of bird species that live and roam there: Cinnamon Teal Ducks,
Red Shoveler Ducks, storks, mallards, pink flamingos and a rich
variety of other species.
In addition to the rich flora and fauna that can be found in the
park, it also offers numerous other attractions (fishing, underwater
archaeology, inexhaustible photographic opportunities and walking
paths).
El Ejido boasts one of the few untouched coastlines of the European
Mediterranean and offers unbeatable walks in the vicinity of the
residential areas to dunes and lagoons with flamingos and other
protected species.
Beaches:
The
beaches of El Ejido have been awarded the Blue Flag by the
European Union ever since this scheme was conceived to recognise
environmental quality and a high level of facilities.
